Justice Rowe from Atlantic Canada Appointed to Supreme Court

OTTAWA, ON - Official Opposition Justice Critic, the Honourable Rob Nicholson, released the following statement with regard to the Minister of Justice’s announcement on the appointment of a new Supreme Court of Canada justice:

“I am pleased to see that the Liberals have listened to the Conservatives on this important matter for Atlantic Canada. I am glad the Government has changed their approach and has decided to appoint Malcolm Rowe from the Newfoundland and Labrador Court of Appeal as the new Supreme Court Justice.”

“It is appropriate that Atlantic Canada has representation on the Supreme Court of Canada, as they have had for the past 141 years by constitutional convention. It is very important for this representation to continue.”

“Today’s announcement is further evidence that the Conservatives are working for Atlantic Canada and are standing up for Atlantic Canadians. As the Official Opposition, the Conservatives will continue to hold this Liberal Government to account.”
